Somalia Affair - The Somalia Affair was a military scandal, magnified by a highly politicized and publicized enquiry, that greatly damaged the reputation amongst Canadians of their military in the mid-1990s. It began with the murder of a Somali prisoner held by the Canadian Airborne Regiment during its peace-restoration mission to that country in 1993, and resulted in the disbandment of that unit, as well significant changes to the Canadian Forces.
